A pair of earthquakes, both greater than M3.0, occurred early this morning 10 miles southeast of Inyo county's city of Lone Pine. At 4:22 a M3.1 earthquake occurred followed about a minute later by a M3.4. No official word that any of them have been felt and the statistics of hits received from the webpage show no significant increase in activity at that time. Either the earthquakes weren't felt or the people of Lone Pine have the good sense not to log in that early in the morning because of them.

Happy New Year!! Of novelty note, our first recorded local earthquake of the new year for southern California was a M1.5 at 12:16 am (PST) located 1 mile south-southeast of the city of Orange. The quake went unnoticed (as expected from earthquakes that small and from usually alert, but festive earthquake-feelers distracted by dancing in the New Year). So far this year we haven't received any reports of any earthquakes being felt. The most likely being a M3.0 near Obsidian Butte at 2:54 Monday morning.

Yesterday (Tuesday) morning at 9:37 there was a M2.9 earthquake in the northeast corner of San Diego county, 10 miles east-northeast of Borrego Springs. Again, there is no confirmation it was felt.

As of the last week of last year, it's likely a M2.8 under Loma Linda was felt. It occurred at the wee hour of 3:14 am on Saturday, December 30th.
